“Common Thread - a Conversation” was created in 2013 for the Feminist Artist Conference exhibition in Toronto.
After putting out the call to Women painters for their discarded painter clothes, I pieced together the fragments of the collected textiles.
Unexpectedly, it became an intimate project. In some cases i didn’t know the artists personally, nor the paintings that contained the colours on the fabrics.
The quilt was tucked away on a wall at Artscape Gibraltar Point.
I thought the Toronto Island art crawl is a good opportunity to bring new energy to the piece, and to celebrate women artists and women's work.
